When most people think of face oils (or oils for skin care in general) they think that they are bad because they might clog skin or look greasy. Much thanks to the mainstream beauty industry that advertises “oil-free” products and use petroleum-based ingredients such as mineral oil (a petroleum by-product that just sits on top of your skin) or lanolin (another useless carrier oil extracted from sheep’s wool). Contrary to popular belief, most pure oils are good for your skin. Also, for those who worry about greasiness, oil dissolves oil!

Lionheads’ serums use pure Argan, Prickly Pear, Neem, Jojoba, Kukui, Rosehip, and Tamanu carrier oils (carrier oils, aside from all of the nourishing goodies they deliver to your skin on their own, carry essential oils on to your skin). I chose carrier oils that have comedogenic ratings between 0 (will not clog pores at all) and 2 (moderately low).

Each 25ml bottle provides about 6-8 months usage. Use within 6 months after purchase.

Jojoba is the main carrier oil used in this serum. Jojoba is well-known for its ability to nourish the skin because of its high Vitamin E content. It is also a liquid wax that closely resembles sebum (the waxy substance your skin glands excrete to lubricate your skin) and is known to help balance the sebum – imbalance of sebum is known to cause acne and other skin problems. Calendula is known to be incredibly soothing and healing, while camellia seed oil (aka green tea oil) is known to be an excellent oil to use for acne sufferers due to its strong antibacterial properties. It is also great for use against the signs of aging as it tightens and smooths skin tone Tamanu oil, the secondary carrier oil used, is one of the best healing carrier oils. It is a powerful healer of acne, burns, cuts, eczema, rashes and insect bites. Neem oil has been traditionally used to treat acne as it is known to contain powerful anti-bacterial properties; the high fatty-acid content in neem oil is said to prevent and treat scars from acne. This serum is topped off with lavender and tea tree essential oils – two well-known oils that heal various skin problems and treat acne. This can be used as a moisturizer for the face or “spot” treatment (apply on pimples only).

This serum is suitable for all skin types. It is called the ultimate serum because it is packed with deep-moisturizing, anti-aging, and healing properties. The main carrier oils are organic argan, evening primrose, rosehip, and prickly pear. Argan is the main carrier oil used in this serum. Rich in vitamin E, carotenes, antioxidants and essential fatty acids, it has the well-deserved reputation of being one of the best skin care oils. It has the gentle ability to protect against environmental damage, heal many skin problems, and reduce wrinkles. This oil is super light and just absorbs right into your skin without being greasy at all. Evening primose is known for accelerating the healing of skin, increase the speed of healing and regrowth of new cells, and diminish the appearance of scars and blemishes. It is also known to help relieve skin conditions like eczema. Rosehip’s high Vitamin A content allows it to deeply penetrate your skin to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, while improving moisture levels. Its also rich in Vitamin C antioxidants, which promote collagen production. The essential fatty acids in rosehip oil help quench dry, sun damaged skin and help to improve the appearance of burns and scars. Prickly pear has been all the rage (and incredibly expensive) for good reason. It has 150% more vitamin E than argan! It is highly moisturizing and has many properties that are beneficial to the skin. High in Omega-6 Fatty Acids and naturally occurring Carotenoids, Vitamins C and E, and Flavonoids, this skin-toning oil contains powerful antioxidants. This nutrient-rich, fast absorbing oil is high in Linoleic Acid, which helps to maintain skin’s supple look and brightens the complexion. It penetrates deeply into the skin to provide intense hydration without clogging the pores.
