I was very skeptical when I heard about Acquarella nail polish, but I thought I'd give it a try. Unlike most nail polishes, this water-based nail polish does not contain toxic ingredients such as toluene, formaldehyde, camphor, or petrochemical solvents and claims to be non-toxic. It also claims to be suitable for people like me who have Multiple Chemical Sensitivities and cannot withstand the fumes of conventional nail products.

Lionheads’ Quinoa & Chickpea Salad
I had a similar salad at a local pub (I know, of all places!) and loved it so much that I decided to make my own version of it. This recipe is loaded with protein, fibre and of course flavour. Masala chickpeas with a tahini and creamy cashew dressing paired with tonnes of healthy veggies and topped with toasted hemp seeds. Perfect meal on any day.
Why Essential Oils are Good for You
Contrary to popular belief, oil as a moisturizer is good for you in many ways. Most people – myself included – have been brought up to believe that oil is bad for your skin because it makes you breakout; hence, most mainstream commercial skin care products are oil-free. However, like dissolves like; therefore, oil dissolves oil.
Lionheads’ Jerk Pasta
This dish was partly inspired by my mom’s cooking. She used to make something like this when I was a child. Cremini and onions are meant to be together! The jerk sauce gives it a kick, while the basil and hoisin sauce give the dish a unique flavour, while keeping the spice in check (well, kind of!). Most importantly, it’s an easy and fast recipe. I hope you like it.
Lionheads’ Dill Avocado Coleslaw
I’ve never been a fan of coleslaw, mainly because of the mayo or Miracle whip used in most recipes, but I love the veggies in it. Here is a recipe I crafted that creates a light but creamy slaw (and it’s vegan!). The avocado provides a creamy texture – no oil required. I hope you like it:)
Lionheads’ Congee
During my year off from my full-time job last year, I don't think I was sick once. Since I returned to work recently, I've already been sick twice. This latest cough/cold I have made me crave a traditional Chinese dish called congee. It's usually made with a lot of meat, seafood and MSG in restaurants. Here is a simple, healthy recipe that will make you feel a better. Not only is it tasty, but it also had a soothing effect on my very sore throat. Even if you're not sick, this is a nice dish for a cool autumn day.
Caring for Dry and Sensitive Skin
Prior to my DIY days, I tried numerous commercial products without any success. No matter what product - even if deemed especially for dry/sensitive skin - my skin was always left dry, tight, irritated, and red. Now, I stick to this routine and have seen amazing results.
