Our neighbours were kind enough to share with us their first harvest of zucchinis. We also have basil growing. I thought what could I make with these two ingredients on one of these hot summer days? I wanted to have something healthy, juicy and flavourful and this is what I came up with. This raw meal is the real deal:)

Lionheads’ Hot and Sour Soup
If you haven't noticed, I've been on quite the quest to make healthier Chinese food. Because I have a condition known as Multiple Chemical Sensitivities, I can't have most Chinese food at restaurants due to the MSG, food colouring, etc. Here is a healthier version that will surely warm you up and clear your sinuses in this chilly, but beautiful cold weather.
Lionheads’ Curry
This mild curry is inspired by my mom’s “Chinese-style” cooking when I was growing up. It is packed with flavour and protein. Try it out:)
Soaps – the good, the bad, and the ugly
Like many people, I always believed that using "anti-bacterial" soaps were necessary. However, recent scientific studies have shown that soaps containing such "anti-bacterial" chemicals as triclosan, do not help reduce bacteria. In fact, they are harmful to you and the environment. In the United States, the FDA has ordered companies that use these chemicals to stop using them.
Super Tofu
If you’re one of those people who thinks that tofu is gross or that it doesn’t taste good, here is a recipe that will change your mind! The key to making tofu tasty is marinating it well and finding a brand or type of tofu that has a texture that you like.
Lionheads’ Berry Smoothie
This is my go-to smoothie in the morning. Quick, easy, healthy, and yummy! Perfect for back to school or work:)
Shepherdess Pie
Over this Thanksgiving weekend, why not cozy up with your loved ones and share the ultimate comfort dish – shepherdess pie, vegan-style. This recipe is originally from Roz Denny’s “The Ultimate Vegetarian Cookbook”; this is an adaptation of the original recipe. Instead of using potatoes, Lionheads recommends using cauliflower. Cauliflower is not only rich in minerals and vitamins, but it also easily absorbs flavours. Your kids may not even know they are eating it.
REVIEW – Acquarella nail polish
I was very skeptical when I heard about Acquarella nail polish, but I thought I'd give it a try. Unlike most nail polishes, this water-based nail polish does not contain toxic ingredients such as toluene, formaldehyde, camphor, or petrochemical solvents and claims to be non-toxic. It also claims to be suitable for people like me who have Multiple Chemical Sensitivities and cannot withstand the fumes of conventional nail products.
Lionheads’ Quinoa & Chickpea Salad
I had a similar salad at a local pub (I know, of all places!) and loved it so much that I decided to make my own version of it. This recipe is loaded with protein, fibre and of course flavour. Masala chickpeas with a tahini and creamy cashew dressing paired with tonnes of healthy veggies and topped with toasted hemp seeds. Perfect meal on any day.
Why Essential Oils are Good for You
Contrary to popular belief, oil as a moisturizer is good for you in many ways. Most people – myself included – have been brought up to believe that oil is bad for your skin because it makes you breakout; hence, most mainstream commercial skin care products are oil-free. However, like dissolves like; therefore, oil dissolves oil.
